TITLE: Mountain Gorilla NAME: Florian Wolper COUNTRY: Germany (me); Kongo (the gorilla) EMAIL: f.wolper@web.de TOPIC: Wilderness COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. JPGFILE: gorilla.jpg RENDERER USED: Metacreations Bryce TOOLS USED: Metacreations Painter, Adobe Photoshop RENDER TIME: 30 min HARDWARE USED: Pentium II 400 / 128 MB Ram, Wacom ArtPad (just to paint the textures) IMAGE DESCRIPTION: Wilderness; my first thought was: jungle. It took me just a few hours to create this picture. But then I decided to create another scene. Unfortunately I had not the time to finish it. So I submited this picture of a jungle and the mountain gorilla. I personally do not like the position of the gorilla, but I did not want to spend too much time in recreating the scene (I have lost the original Bryce Savefile). More inormation about the mountain gorilla is found here: http://www.cotf.edu/ete/modules/mgorilla/mgorilla.html http://houck.salkeiz.k12.or.us/houck.website/cool.sites/sci/ESpecies/gorilla.html DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: I do not like the Bryce plants. That is why I use just terrains. All you need is to edit and rotate them. The textures were painted with Painter 6 (I like the feature of automated jump from one side to another to create endless textures). Then I created the alpha maps, imported my new textures to Bryce and applied them on my mountains. I used textures with a high amount of "noise". The final render was done with the antialias option turned off, because it produces a too smooth picture.
