JPGFILE: gm_field.jpg ZIPFILE: gm_field.zip RENDERER USED: Megapov 0.5 plus mod 0.2.5 TOOLS USED: Povray editor RENDER TIME: around 30 mn (forgot to check) HARDWARE USED: Pentium III 733 Mhz IMAGE DESCRIPTION: This image is inspired from an WWII photograph of a submarine in a mine field (I suspect now that the picture a fake, nobody could have taken it). DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: It was a pretty straightforward process, done exclusively in pov (except the texture maps for the ship and the mines). The ship itself is a big blob (actually 8 blob pieces) with foreign CSG material added. The mines are isosurfaces + CSG. The environment is scattering media. With a 733 Mhz and method 3, media has become usable at least. The chain link is made with a macro by Rob Antonishen. Everything is in the zip, but the image map and normal map for the ship are not given (the original one is here : http://www.bulletproof-studios.com/ship1.jpg) and the font for the ship name (Stamp). Things to improve : if have the time, you can put an area light to get softier shadows below the submarine. I deliberately didn't put fish in there to keep it unrealistic. G_rard Mansoif
