JPGFILE: incuba01.jpg ZIPFILE: incuba01.zip RENDERER USED: POV-Ray 3.1 for Windows TOOLS USED: -Calimax Modeller -POV-Ray -EditPad -Pbrush -IrfanView -Jans Formati 8 RENDER TIME: 1 hour 18 min 58 sec ( 5 secs for parsing, the rest for tracing) HARDWARE USED: AMD K6, 32 Mb RAM, running Windows 98 IMAGE DESCRIPTION: Some kind of industrial laboratory, containing a set of incubation machines where some unidentified creatures ( maybe mutants, maybe alien hybrids, maybe human clones...) are growing under scientific control. The scene is quite simple, but I wanted to make something with an industrial look, and this was what I got. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: 1. MODELING: Everything in this scene was made using Calimax Modeller, using CSG, primitives and a couple of lathe objects. I made three different modules, one for the structure of the room, one for the wall with the windows, and one for the incubation machine, and then I just placed them over and over again to get a complete room with several machines. 2. TEXTURES: I used Pbrush and IrfanView to create the image maps and the bump maps used in this scene. The control panel for the incubation machines was created in part using Emboss (http://arneh.home.pages.de). I also used several procedural textures. 3. SCENE: The scene was made using three modules, repeating each one several times to get the entire room. Each structure module has its own light source, from the lamp ,so there are 21 light sources in this scene, that's why this simple scene took more than 1 hour to render. The composition is simple, because I tried to create an industrial and controlled environment, and all the light sources resulted to be useful to create a very interesting shadow effect. 4. IMAGE: The final image was rendered with POV-Ray as an 800x600 bitmap. I used Jans Formati to make the JPG file. Notes: 1. Thank you for all the comments about my two entries for the previous round, they have been very useful. 2. This scene is a work in progress, so maybe I'll put some different shots of the scene on my web site in the future.
