TITLE: Looking at the Mirror NAME: Petri T Ojamies COUNTRY: Finland EMAIL: ojamies@cs.helsinki.fi WEBPAGE: www.helsinki.fi/~ojamies/ TOPIC: Contrast COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. JPGFILE: pto05.jpg ZIPFILE: pto05.zip RENDERER USED: POV-Ray 3.1g TOOLS USED: GIMP RENDER TIME: 15 min HARDWARE USED: PIII 450, 256 MB IMAGE DESCRIPTION: Contrast between America and Europe is great in many ways. But still these two are like two sides of a coin. And like sides of a coin these two shall never realy meet face to face. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: This is simple. Coin is made of three cylinders, one for each side and one midlelayer to make smooth pigment-transformation. I used bump_map to make the normal. Board material is layered texture with gradient x pigment below givin strong brown veins and granite pigment on top to make random-lookin noise on the surface. Mirror-box is csg object. Few problems that still hount my mind - How can I make the Euro look better - more metallic perhaps? - Why mirror is so difficult to recognize as mirror?
