RENDER TIME: 5 minutes IMAGE DESCRIPTION: They attacked the weak, peaceful tribes, and it was almost too easy. As they laid waste to another village, in the distance they saw a bright light, and then a reflection of it in the Heavens. It moved downwards, to Earth, and the wrath of an angel was upon them. Fire and brimstone reigned. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: Well... first off, this image isn't really completed. A good bit of the work was done hastily, in the last several days before the end of the round. If only I'd thought of the idea sooner. Anyway, there's a lot of media in it, and for simplication purposes, it's all emission media. I had originally used scattering for several effects, but it didn't exactly give me the effect I'd desired. It got too complicated. Notice the media around the black "bridge".. it isn't too obvious, but I thought it was a neat touch. Each individual tree is made up of several (5 or 6) cones, and some textured spheres. I got this idea from an entry to the city round, of buildings with some trees made similar to these. I was pleased and surprised with the ease of creating this texture, using a gradient with several bump colormaps in it. The sky and the moon, I'm ashamed to say, are not really my creation. The moon was a taken from a picture of our moon taken by a satellite, I beleive. I colorized it using paint shop pro to make it yellow. The sky is a seed of Chris Colefax's Galaxy plugin. I really wanted to try and make some meteors of my own, but I ran out of time. Right now, it's 10:30 on Feb. 28th, actually.. PSP was also used for me to paint the picture on the temple, and create several heightfeilds. I hope you like it, because I had a good time making it. Any questions, comments, or.. whatever, will be happily answered. I'd be quite honored at a request for the source, but since I don't see it actually happening, I'm going to decline from posting a .zip file. Enjoy! -Travis Schau
