TITLE: Night of the Ants NAME: Charles Parkhurst COUNTRY: United States of America EMAIL: charles@parkhurst.net WEBPAGE: http://www.parkhurst.net TOPIC: Insects and Spiders COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. JPGFILE: niteofan.jpg RENDERER USED: Bryce4 TOOLS USED: Bryce4, Poser4, PaintShopPro 6.2 RENDER TIME: 6.5 hours HARDWARE USED: Pentium II 400 IMAGE DESCRIPTION: A little bit of 50's cold war paranoia a la "War of the Worlds" and old sci-fi magazine covers. I don't think an artist should say a whole lot here as the viewer may get a totally different take than the artist's intent, and this is good. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: Tree in the foreground was a free download from http://www.3dforest.com, imported and then textured in bryce. Alas, 3dforest.com doesn't seem to be around anymore. Ants came from free downloads at http://www.3dcafe.com/asp/animals.asp, but unfortunately no text file to credit anyone. I don't remember where the flying saucers came from, just one of many freebies on the internet I guess. Again, no text file was included so I cannot credit the designer. Fleeing woman created in poser, exported to obj file, then imported and retextured in bryce. Ants were textured with a material called "corrugated rust" to give a mech feel, as well as age. Invasion is old hat for these fellows. I think they come from Mars, but don't quote me on that please.
