TITLE: Spider NAME: Travis Schau COUNTRY: USA EMAIL: bigtrav2001@chartermi.net WEBPAGE: n/a TOPIC: Spiders COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. JPGFILE: tsspider.jpg RENDERER USED: pov-ray TOOLS USED: Moray, Win3d, Adobe Photoshop RENDER TIME: 45 minutes IMAGE DESCRIPTION: Some mechanical spiders attack building. I had big ideas for some more stuff I wanted to add, but completely ran out of time, since I only really got motivated about a week before I had to submit. It still gives off the feel and idea pretty well as it is though. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: All textures were made specifically for this scene. There are several imagemaps made in adobe, but the majority of textures are pov-ray procedurally made. The scene was rendered with radiosity and colored lights. Spiders are completely CSG. They're almost inverse kinemetically rigged up, so I can move them pretty easy. The building is just (sigh...) a cube with a poorly-placed pov procedural texture. I did not create the helicopter. I got it from 3dCafe. (Only because I am so out of time though.) Do note the work I did for the blade textures, both the spinning one (a color-wheel thingy texture), and where I created some semi-transparent extra blades to make look like spinning. The ground is a (sigh...) poorly-designed and textured heightfeild. I didn't have time to render it again and change all that green stuff. I guess it looks kinda cool though! I enjoyed making this scene a lot, and will be finishing it as soon as I get home (and deadline is over). Although uncomplete, I still see it as a valid entry. Enjoy!
