JPGFILE: js_rpg.jpg ZIPFILE: js_rpg.zip RENDERER USED: POV-Ray 3.1 TOOLS USED: Moray 3.3, sPatch RENDER TIME: 40m 19s HARDWARE USED: Athlon 600 IMAGE DESCRIPTION: A typical role-playing session being held in the basement. The participants have taken a break to get more pizza before they storm the castle. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: Coming up with a good idea for this round was harder than I though it would be. The first object I made was the sword. The blade was modeled in sPatch then exported to Moray where I did the rest as CSG. Then I got stuck. I couldn't come up with a decent setting for the sword that I felt was within my ability. With only a few weeks to go, I finally came up with my current idea. The rest of the objects are made from CSG in Moray. The book and cup objects are from my fortress entry with a few modifications and the idea for the empty pizza box came from a friend. The textures are pretty simple with a few exceptions. The walls were textured using Jeff Lee's brick tutorial (http://www.shipbrook.com/jeff/raytrace/bricks.html). The pizza box label came from some clip art I found on the web. I put together a little scene for the picture on the books (the source for this is also included in the zip). The papers on the table are scans of some old Dungeons & Dragons characters and maps that I had laying around. If I had a little more time I would have liked to do another image or two to make some fantasy type posters for the walls. Although, with the bare walls it does give a dungeon like feel. The Moray files can be found in the zip as well as the pov files as exported by Moray. Due to size I did not include any of the image maps.
