IMAGE DESCRIPTION:
A small robot clutching a basketball stares up at these long,
long legs surrounding it...

DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED:

I started out with the basketball, since I anticipated that would be the most
difficult to create. It proved indeed to be, so I *cheated* a little and used
Alan Holding's nice basketball image_map. The little robot I built from the
feet up- the head was a pain to angle correctly. I had originally intended just
to do legs of the taller robots, but realized that wouldn't work too well
because of the reflection in the little guy's body, the shadows and the floor's
reflection. So I just made really tall, lean 'bots, trying to give the
impression off honed, powerful, and menacing machines. A key bit was the eyes-
you can't see it in the final image, but the tall bots' heads are squashed
spheres with a glowing green visor, supposedly making them a bit more menacing.
I then had a fairly nice image, but I was still at a loss for a title. I asked
some of my teachers, posted the question to the POV newsgroup, and asked as
many other people as possible. A good friend of mine, Alan Sugar (a great
writer too) finally suggested my current title, "Short Stuff".
