TITLE: d Traveller's log NAME: D.D. EMAIL: Densz@prontomail.com TOPIC: Spirit of Asia COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. JPGFILE: dtravlog.jpg ZIPFILE: dtravlog.zip RENDERER USED: Pov-Ray for Windows v3.1 TOOLS USED: Spatch, Hamapatch and Photoshop(for conversion to jpg) RENDER TIME: 1d 00h 19m 53s HARDWARE USED: Pentium 166Mhz IMAGE DESCRIPTION: It is nightime, the traveller who has just returned home from his long journey begins reminiscing the wonderful experience of his travels of Asia in his log book... Suddenly next to his camera, the photo which he took of the Taj Mahal,(the seven wonders of the world) begins to appear REAL, honest!..is it a mirage or is it very late there?....yoohoo..? and the table begins to swirl...zzzzzz. ;O) DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: For visual purposes, a sketch is first drawn on a piece of paper. References are from 'the illustrated dictionary of essential knowledge' for the Taj Mahal model and my camera the Nikon FM2 for the camera model. The 'dtravlog' image is modelled in Spatch: The Taj Mahal and the camera models use lots and lots of primitives object like cubes and cylinders and some other odd shapes using the extrusion technique. The numbers and logos on the camera uses cubes and lathing objects. The handwriting is a flat based 'point to point' letters shapes. All of the numbers and letters are then positioned just slightly above the surfaces of the camera and paper...elevation..da da da dee dum ;O) All the models are then exported to Hamapatch where the textures and colors are applied. The textures used are agate plus ripples(camera body), granite plus ripples(table and trees) and metallic(non reflective) for the silver parts of the camera. Alas, the rendering(640x480 at anti-alias 0.2 using just one area light for the nightime atmosphere). There are 18286 frame levels to this image and its pov file stands at 8.18megabites zipped to 946kilobites. P.S: HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone! :O)
