The one thing I would add is some kind of "disturbence" in the painting to show
that the
fish actually jumped through it. Kind of like the thing in Mario 64 where he
jumps through 
the painting. But, wow, this looks very real.

change is to put more of a splash (or at least a lot more 
ripples) in the water where the fish is jumping out.

I like the idea of having the fish transcending the barrier 
of the canvas to the real world.  The water droplets 
coming from the fish look excellent.  One thing that 
looks awkward in the image is that the painting doesn't 
fit the fact that a fish just jumped out of it - the water is 
too calm.

I think this picture makes particularily good use of the raytracing medium.
