TITLE: Ruby Slippers NAME: Jim Charter COUNTRY: USA EMAIL: jrcsurvey@aol.com TOPIC: Worlds Within Worlds COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. JPGFILE: rubyslip.jpg ZIPFILE: rubyslip.zip RENDERER USED: POVRay 3.5 Beta TOOLS USED: Maya, 3DWin4, PSP RENDER TIME: 10 hrs HARDWARE USED: Athlon 1.67 1G IMAGE DESCRIPTION: The shoe repair shop is a world where various neighbourhood shoes collect together, each representing both the private and public worlds of their owners. Shoes await repair and repaired shoes await their owners, because of course, there is no place like home. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: The wall, the buffing machine, and its related objects are modelled entirely with isosurfaces and textured with procedural patterns displaced from their surfaces. The shoes, except the sequined slippers, are modelled from mesh, in Maya, exported as .obj, and converted with 3dwin4. The sequined shoes were shaped with splines. A surface of triangles was covered with discs which were oriented to the surface normal with the Reorient macro from John Vansickle. The zip file does not include the mesh2 files.
