JPGFILE: table42.jpg ZIPFILE: table42.zip RENDERER USED: Povray 3.1g (P3/Athlon optimised) TOOLS USED: Moray 3.3, Rhino 2.0, Paint Shop Pro for the conversion/name RENDER TIME: 8 minutes 58 seconds HARDWARE USED: AMD AthlonXP 1700+, 256MB DDR266, el cheapo digital camera DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: I spent ages (too much in fact) modelling the ski bindings in Moray and Rhino. The front part is a Rhino loft and the rest is just plain old CSG. A lot of the work I put into shaping the front is not visible in the image unfortunately. I modelled the bindings off various pictures on the internet, not being fortunate enough to have direct access to any :( They're not any particular binding, but rather a combination of several. The landscape has been done in a series of stages each with one bezier patch. First the really close snow is a bezier patch. The table was made in Rhino, which was probably overkill, but I couldn't get a patch to look right. The more distant snow is another patch, and the rock is from Rhino. Finally, the hills (yes, that's what they are intended to be) are made up of another patch, but due to problems with the clouds and the camera angle, they ended up more as plains. The clouds are a heavily modified version of a standard Moray texture, HighSky. Pretty much everything else is a sweep of a CSG. There's actually a fair amount of detail on the ski chair stuff, which was originally much closer to the front of the scene. I've snipped out some stuff like the bolts etc as they were totally invisible at the new distance. I really hate all the textures in this scene apart from the ones on the skis. I hade only a couple of hours to texture the scene (due to unexpected work committments) and I think it shows up horribly. Originally the wine glasses were glass, but the sky was playing havok with their color, so I resorted to using goblets. The textures are mostly modified Moray textures, but the ones on the skis are done from scratch. The texture has three layers: the base, the lightning-like likes, and the fades at the edge (which you can't see very well). The label for the wine bottle is from some random French bottle of wine which was then modified to smooth it etc. Note: I have included the Moray file as it is probably more educational that the POV output, as the POV output is not modified.
