JPGFILE: mcloud.jpg ZIPFILE: mcloud.zip RENDERER USED: Povray 2.2 TOOLS USED: Moray RENDER TIME: 12 37 HARDWARE USED: Celeron 533MHz, 128MB RAM IMAGE DESCRIPTION: This is basically the reflection of a mushroom cloud in someone's eye. Just because it's a dream doesn't mean it has to be nice. The eye was originaly meant to be green/gold, but the ambient light turned it a wonderful demonic red, so I left it as is. Also I did not want to mess up the excellent internal reflections in the eyeball itself DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: This image was created entirely in Moray, which is a GUI add on for Povray. Essentially, I saw the topic and thought - 'That's be neat, a mushroom cloud reflected in someone's eye!' I built, in order; the mushroom cloud. A rotational sweep, using quadratic approximations the ring A basic toroid the landform A bezier patch, with a bit of a bump in the middle, a slight twist in the far corner, and scaled and rotated to suit textures for the above. I made the textures myself, mostly for the fun of it. If you want to do this, read the help files so you know what each function does befor playing with it. the eye, as a group eyeball - basic sphere iris - stretched disk pupil - stretched disk just above the iris. I could have used a holy disk for both, but then you'd see out the back of the eye... more textures. open up the .mdl file to get a good look at them... I did play with a starfield at the back , but realised on my first draft render that that was not going to work - too many starts distracted from the foreground. Note that for the eye I constructed it at 0,0,0 then moved the whole thing as a group, rather than do each little bit by itself.
