TITLE: A PC's Dream NAME: Brian Blovett COUNTRY: USA EMAIL: brianblovett@mac.com WEBPAGE: http://homepage.mac.com/brianblovett TOPIC: Dreaming COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. JPGFILE: pc_dream.jpg RENDERER USED: POV-Ray 3.1 TOOLS USED: Appleworks, Photoshop 5, GraphicConverter RENDER TIME: 21 minutes, 42 seconds HARDWARE USED: iBook (G3 500MHz,256MB Ram) IMAGE DESCRIPTION: Alone on its desk, a PC dreams of being something greater... something purer... something awesome... something like... a flat-screen iMac! DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: The iMac was done entirely in CSG by taking measurements off a display model in a local apple dealer. The PC's components were CSGs modelled after the ones on my desk at work. To a lesser extent, the other items were also modelled on ones in my office. I used standard POV-Ray textures for the most part. The biggest challenge was probably the thought bubble. I wanted to light it in a way that wouldn't light the rest of the scene. The solution ended up being the light falloff parameters in POV-Ray. This is my first entry into the IRTC, and I'm fairly proud of it (though I see about 2 million things I could've done better if I hadn't gotten distracted with work and stuff this month).
