IMAGE DESCRIPTION:

We see in this image some kind of purple 'snowman' behind a table. It has a
hand placed on the edge of the overturned table, it's eyes are slightly closed,
as if asleep or sad, and it's mouth (based on the teeth) is in a frown... We
see that what we are seeing is based upon a reflection in a mirror. A door to
the right can be seen due to the light showing through the cracks. What this
thing is, why it is trying to hide, why it has that miserable look upon it's
face, we might never know. It is a child waiting for it's mother? A being
seperated from it's friends and forced to remain in a room that is constantly
under watch? Hmm...
I know that it could be much better, and await the comments that I get... I
think the room is a little too empty, and it is more of a 'Sadness' then
'Loneliness' themed image. It's simple, but it gets the point across, no?
All-in-all, not too bad for my second submitted image (IMHO).

DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED:

I was in no way going to submit to this IRTC topic, as I 1) had no ideas that I
cared to render, and 2) had very little time (summer break wasn't much of a
break). However, after deciding that I was going to attempt to create beings
of one sort or another (having read many blob tutorials on human-like POV-Ray
objects) I began to work on such a being. Ahbo, which I have called him due to
a 'Ah!' type look that I acheived while in development, was what I ended up
creating as my being.
After having created one facial expression rendering (in which only Ahbo's head
was rendered/modelled with different expressions), and a comment from my sister
that he looked 'sooo sad', I realized that perhaps I could work with Ahbo and
submit an image to the IRTC. I thought, what if this little guy is in a room,
with a mirror (as if being watched) and the only entrance on the top of the
room (in/on the ceiling) with bars and glass. The camera could then be looking
down, into the room, through the caged window, into the mirror, which shows
this little guy in a corner inside a box, or under a cover of some kind...
Well, the time that I had available to create and render this removed some of
those ideas, but nurtured others. I kept the room idea, the hiding idea, and
the idea of putting Ahbo in the image. I added a door and had him behind a
table instead of what I had originally planned. I think the hardest part was
playing with the blobs, and later putting in the door and table. Blobs, boxes,
spheres, cylinders, were pretty much the only things that I used. I wanted to
zoom in on the face, but I would have lost too much, in my opinion, and
therefore kept the wide shot, even though I lose a lot of the facial
expression...
Note that nothing other then free programs were used, and the entire scene was
hand-coded...
