===== From rgow@lanset.com: Interesting interpretation. Not quite Ansel, but worth the effort. ===== From shay@simcoparts.com: Nice concept and image. The scale seems odd, however. I assume that the photographer is elevated, but this isn't at all clear. It looks as if he might be a giant standing over the trees. Very nice use of an atypical lens. ===== From chris@ugan.com: Great image but the clouds bother me for some reason.. ===== From awesomeamazingaaron@yahoo.com: Ansel Adams lives! ===== From batronyx@alliancecable.net: It needs more contrast in the darker areas. . . or maybe that's less contrast over the whole scene. It's too dark in places, lacks the 'crispness' of his work, and I almost didn't see Adams in the lower right. In spite of that it is a very admirable effort. I think the problem with the clouds looking flat is less a matter of coontrast and more a matter of perspective. I would expect the clouds closer to the horizon to be smaller and seem farther away. ===== From charliemc@prodigy.net: i love ansel adams. this was a great idea. you even did a good job ===== From martin@simaltech.com: Very cool idea. Image is good overall, but has some inconsistencies. ===== From jschmi@optonline.net: Vue d'Esprit kicks ass!! ===== From jrcsurvey@aol.com: An fascinating idea. The use of real terrain data gives the attempt to reproduce the photo it a credable edge. I think you got quite close. ===== From chris_hormann@gmx.de: Interesting idea and very nice clouds and atmosphere. ===== From clem@dhol.org: Beautiful black and white pseudophoto. The dramatic sky almost overwhemls the land but not quite. The somewhat inconspicuous photographer is excellent. Good job. ===== From ive@lilysoft.com: Well, Ansel Adams was also my first thought when I did read the topic, and I'm glad you did work on this idea. And it's a nice touch to add Mr. Adams himself to the picture. The problem is, Ansel's photos are much more impressive than your image, but I'm sure you already know that. So why didn't you create a colored version of that image? This way you would not have to compete with the original photo and could add your own interpretation. -Ive ===== From p_chan@shaw.ca: The breaking cloud effect looks very nice. The lighting effects are very interesting, and give the image an artistic, rather than a rendered, feel. ===== From glenn@mccarters.net: You gave yourself a very difficult challenge, trying to recapture the = spirit of Adams' images. Good effort. I especially like that you = included the photographer in the scene -- it adds a focal point and = shows us that it is Nature, not Adams, who created this spectacle. = That, like Adams, we are merely observers, not creators. I also like = the very subtle use of color and the lighting effects. Yes, the clouds = look flat, too heavy, marring the image somewhat. Trees are excellent. ===== From irtc_mail@yahoo.co.uk: Bottom half good, top half less good. Perhaps scrap the idea of a reproduction. ===== From hgregory3a@aol.com: the clouds could be thinner, so as to be not so over bearing and distracting ===== From r@168-215-245-100.gen.twtelecom.net: The clouds seem problematic to me
