I like the general shape of your mountains. It looks like you might have used addition or multiplication in your function as I can see where the pigment has some banding towards the top of the highest peaks. The shape of the mountains is nice enough that the strong crackle normal probably isn't necessary. It appears that your textures have some ambience which is making the boulders on the other side of the water glow.

I've never seen the mountain lakes (everything was frozen over) but this has a magical quality. More work might be needed (as you write) but I like it, and am impressed you managed to do all of this by hand.

Overall the image is very nice, the trees especially fit in realistically. However, the ambient light seems too high to me, especially on the white rocks close to the camera, the almost seem to glow.

The slightly lurid lighting and harsh color harmonies seem at odds with the 
majestic layout of the landscape.  There is an impressive amout of detail, 
especially for being hand coded.

Pretty.  Well done except for the plasticky rocks in the

Canadian wilderness feel.  The lake could use a loon or

The shape of the mountains in the background is done 
fairly well, but the texture could use work (too much of a 
monotone as it is now).  The trees look good from a 
medium to long distance, but the one close to the 
camera (above it) has some really strange things going 
on with it (leaves with no branches), so my advice would 
be to take it out of the scene completely, unless you 
can fix it up.
