===== From rgow@lanset.com: Interesting take on the topic. I like the ants and the stone texture. Everything looks a little too clean for ancient ruins, though. ===== From maarten_hofman@hotmail.com: Pity about the blur that is present in the background. The concept is neat, though, as is the arrangement of the objects in the picture. ===== From raytracing@grayproductions.net: I like this concept. The ants and hill are great. I love the stone texture and shape of the column too, but I think it could benefit from being a little more "roughed up". ===== From tek@evilsuperbrain.com: The crumbling brick wall seems to be made out of brand new bricks, but otherwise this image looks wonderful. The colours and focal blur really bring it to life. ===== From xilo_m@hotpop.com: Very good! In my opinion, one of the best this round! Though, I'd say you should have put more details in the fractures in the bricks and the columns, also if we could see what the ants are actually doing would be nice... for example, they might be feeding in a can of Coca-Cola?! ===== From marlo.steed@uleth.ca: The concept is a good one. The modeling isn't bad and DOF works well in the image but the texuring needed some work. The columns looked styrofoam and the sand looked like cold oatmeal - more attention to detail. ===== From hildurka@simnet.is: Nice detailed architectural elements. I like the idea of comparing classical "human" architecture to the one of wildlife. Ants are often regarded human in their behaviour even though I disagree with the idea that their culture will outlive human culture. I guess that both will continue to change and evolve side by side, without regard for each other. This scene is very well composed, but I personally feel you may have overused focal blur a bit. Nice lighting, very good textures, very, very good modelling. One of my favorite in this round. ===== From ralf@treuherz.de: Good texturing on the stones in the foreground. IMO the bricks in the wall in the background are far too large. ===== From p_chan@shaw.ca: You've done an excellent job in controlling the focus of the viewer's eye in this image - the ants climing on the piece of the column in the lower left really help. My suggestion for giving the human architecture a more "ruined" look would be to create some jaggedness where the column is broken. ===== From slone@hiwaay.net: Nice to see (as you say) "an image about architecture rather than simply an image of architecture." I'm not big on focal blur but I guess it focuses our attention on the ants. It's a very pretty image, with a nice balance of colors. ===== From r@ip68-11-81-210.no.no.cox.net: Nice interpretation. Good use of focal blur and composition. Notable for textures, composition, originality ===== From file: hehe... Notable for modelling
