===== From rgow@lanset.com: Interesting concept. Stone textures look good, grass looks great. Overall a bit simplistic. ===== From maarten_hofman@hotmail.com: Good idea, though the grass seems a bit too long. ===== From raytracing@grayproductions.net: I love how you show the transitions, but I was wondering how they would look with more subtle changes instead of the abrupt starts and stops. Just a thought to kick around. ===== From tek@evilsuperbrain.com: Great idea, and it's been realised well. I like the way the grass ages with the building (not realistic, but very effective). I'd suggest a few things that could have been done differently, though I'm not sure if these things were deliberate in your scene so I'll try not to sound too critical: Firstly it would look cool if the 3 stages were shown as a continuum. i.e. instead of just having an edge between the old and the new, you could have the construction of the bridge gradually getting higher, then show the bridge in normal use aging slowly, then eventually falling into disrepair. My other point is that the scene looks very unrealistic, almost cartoony. This looks deliberate, but I think personally I'd like it better if this were done realistically. With subject matter like this it is a far greater challenge to get real world details in. And on a similar note, why is your horizon so low? is this bridge on a really small planet? If you look at the right hand side of the picture we're looking down on the top of the bridge but the horizon's lower than it, this is only possible if the bridge is tilting towards us or if the horizon is way too close! Anyway, I'm nitpicking, this is a good image. Nice work. ===== From xilo_m@hotpop.com: Very nice idea to have the object being constructed! Though I feel the aqueduct is of no use... The part where is being constructed must be serving some interests... and we don't see those interests... ===== From marlo.steed@uleth.ca: The concept is a good one. Question, are you going for a cartoon look or for realism? I think your image is somewhere between the two. the grass is too high relative to the size of the donkey. The stone blocks are too smooth - they needed a bit of a rough appearance (even if they are newly cut). However, I do like the rich color scheme and ambience of the image. The wooden scaffolding looked good. ===== From hildurka@simnet.is: I like the idea of depicting a storyline of the ageing of architecture. When I first looked at the picture I thought it wasn_t quite finished. After reading the text I realized this was the very idea behind the scene. The stone textures might need more work, I personally like the leftmost (the newest) best, it seemes to have the bumpmaps which the middle and rightmost are missing. Also the grass growing and aging is a good idea. Nice modelling on the stone constructions. ===== From chris_hormann@gmx.de: Good idea and a nice colorful scene. The lack of self shadowing of the bridge parts gives a somewhat strange appearance. The weathering of the bridge could be more realistic. There only seem to be whole bricks missing while other forms of erosion are more common in reality. ===== From ralf@treuherz.de: It seems unrealistic that one part of the bridge is already overgrown while the other part is just being build. Good idea, though. The grass looks very good. ===== From p_chan@shaw.ca: I like the idea of the architechure through the ages. I feel the scene could be improved if the fade from use to abandonment was more gradual for the aquaduct (more like how the grass fades from green to yellow). ===== From slone@hiwaay.net: Great concept and a nice look. ===== From r@ip68-11-81-210.no.no.cox.net: Very basic image, but I like the take on the theme. Notable for originality
