===== From rgow@lanset.com: Ok Daddy, the contest is over. Can we have have our blocks back now? ===== From maarten_hofman@hotmail.com: Neat! I like this idea a lot. ===== From tek@evilsuperbrain.com: Very realistic materials and the positioning of the blocks looks really believable. The lighting works quite well, but it is very strange. Nice use of focal blur. ===== From xilo_m@hotpop.com: Very nice image, but I think it lacks something, there is no action in your image, nothing seems to happen, if you had added a catapult and destroyed a wall of your building, it might have been much much more realistic... ===== From marlo.steed@uleth.ca: The concept was spectacular! The modeling also worked well. Something about the image looks sort of washed out, I think I got that feeling because you used depth of field but to use depth of field effectively it needs perspective that is created by context. Let me explain. The background and the ground plain are not recognizable (is the ground suppose to be grass?) This is a very creative piece with a bit more attention to details such as the texture of your bricks. it could have really become good for artistic merit as well (I wasn't sure if the bricks were wood or gold or something else). ===== From hildurka@simnet.is: This isn_t really about arcitecture, is it? Virtual reality is a tool you can use to depict many things, including arcitecture. But this topic isn_t about vitual reality at all. It_s about arcitecture. O.K. Building blocks are also used to simulate houses, I remember my LEGO years as my first attempt to build something architectural, and I believe I_m not the only one so here is a connection to the topic. But I cannot understand the use of pink and yellow light in this scene. O.k to the more technical part. This is great work on the macros, good looking building blocks wonderfully arranged. Radiosity and light work well together giving realism and accuracy. The focal blur looks very realistic (I have actually taken photographs of arcitectural models and this looks similar to the blur I got on my photos). A little bit off topic but all the same good work. ===== From jjaguar@worldnet.att.net: The lighting is good, and the focal blur really helps give a sense of scale. ===== From chris_hormann@gmx.de: Very nice idea and well modelled and lit. There are several parts which are quite obviously mechanically instable of course. The dirty look of the background is somewhat irritating but not necessarily bad. You lost a lot by using that strong jpeg compression, 250k files are allowed, yours is only 34k ===== From p_chan@shaw.ca: Excellent work placing the blocks. Placing a few unused blocks in front of the castle adds to the realism of the scene. This effect could probably also be enhanced by making the positions of the blocks more random. ===== From r@ip68-11-81-210.no.no.cox.net: Child's Playthings seems to be a recurring theme this month, but this is one of the better ones. Has a very "physical" feel to it. Notable for composition, lighting
