===== From leoszilard@yahoo.com: Houses are a little too cut and dry, even for rowhouses. Otherwise, nice indeed. ===== From tek@evilsuperbrain.com: Everything in this scene is very detailed, and there's nothing unrealistic in the modelling. But, there's always a "but", the first thing I thought when I looked at this picture was "CG". If you put this side by side with a photo of a similar place you'll see that all of the colours are slightly wrong, in a way that makes it look artificial. This might be something as simple as the lighting, or maybe you need complex things like HDR. Whatever it is, the overall effect is not anything like as realistic as it should be. However, it's clear a lot of work went into this scene, and it shows in all the details. The modelling on all the buildings is good, and the variety of buildings is very nice. Though I have to say I've never seen such varied houses on one street in real life :) The man pushing the icecream cart is a nice touch (though his rear wheel is sinking into the ground), and the fact that he's on his own adds a nice "evening" feel to the scene. One little niggle, the sky doesn't quite seem to line up with the houses. Also it looks like it's a lower resolution sky stretched to fit. I'm a little puzzled by this 'cause terragen should be able to render a sky that suits the image. Oh, and one last thing I just spotted, there's no road markings! On the whole though this is a very good scene. ===== From marlo.steed@uleth.ca: Generally a pretty good image. I liked the reflection in the windows The shadows and sky match up quite well. I found the Buildings to be a bit too clean and flat. Needed more structural interest here since that is the nature of this contest. ===== From hildurka@simnet.is: A nice street scene. The idea of rowhouses is a good one, we often forget to work on real every day things, maybe not so spectacular but have their own familiar beauty. I particularly like the soft lighting in the scene, the sun setting and the streetlights coming in. Only the circular shadows around the streetlamps, should be barely visible in those areas where the sun still hits the ground. Good textures, except the sidewalk might need some dirt. I like it. ===== From chris_hormann@gmx.de: Nice scene with a not so spectacular form of architecture. The lighting, esp. that of the figure in the foreground could be improved. ===== From p_chan@shaw.ca: Excellent work! The texture and modelling is very well done. The only exception is the sidewalk texture, which is too much of a solid colour.
