TITLE: Greek Orthodox Church in Santorini NAME: Sotiris Georghiou COUNTRY: UK EMAIL: emperorsoz@hotmail.com TOPIC: Architecture COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. JPGFILE: santorin.jpg RENDERER USED: Brazil R/S v1 TOOLS USED: 3D Studio Max R5 RENDER TIME: 6 hours 45 mins HARDWARE USED: Athlon 1.2GHz, 1GB SDRAM IMAGE DESCRIPTION: The Greek island of Santorini has many blue-domed churches, which truly are beautiful. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: Modelling took most of the time up, but simply started by using large shapes and cutting into them, just like a sculptor would. Modelling took me probably about 10 hours. All the textures used on the building were created fully by me using bump maps, diffuse maps etc, and a careful combination of both to create the illusion of dirt and chaos. This was the first time I had used the Brazil R/S so it took me a very long time to understand how it worked. It took much experimenting, but eventually my lights were positioned in the correct place with the correct parameters to help Brazil render me a very nice looking image, which i consider to be my best piece of work to date.
