TITLE: Greek/Gothic Under Glass NAME: Travis Dyck COUNTRY: USA EMAIL: phule@mindless.com WEBPAGE: http://webpages.charter.net/chinook/povray/ TOPIC: Architecture COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. JPGFILE: undrglas.jpg ZIPFILE: undrglas.zip RENDERER USED: POVRay 3.5 TOOLS USED: WinDome 4.80 RENDER TIME: 6 hours 50 minutes HARDWARE USED: Pentium 3 1.5ghz - 256MB RAM IMAGE DESCRIPTION: This scene was inspired by the Halls of Moria with all the arches & columns in Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Rings (the column & arch feel, but not the dungeon look). And I just like the look of everything under a geodesic dome like in Total Recall. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: The whole building is made of CSG structures coded by hand entirely of simple shapes. The columns are a hybrid mix of various Greek column styles - Doric for the taper & square cap, and Ionic for the base which was mirrored to the top as well. The roof is a series of gothic arch canopies and some off-camera domes. All textures are various marbles from stones1.inc. Used WinDome to create the surrounding geodesic dome. The background mountain is a slight twist of the slope sample scene by Rune Johansen that came with POVRay 3.5.
