Without reading your text, I may have not noticed the actual image within the crystal ball.  A good theme though the hand on the left of the image looks a bit strange.

The candle is beautiful, as well as the green mirror!  Generally the atmosphere of the image is very effective. There are a few things that don't work, although: (1) the hand has a strange pose and an even stranger texture (are those red lines blood?); (2) the right part of the picture is too much large; (3) the paper sheet seems to float over the wall.

Nice work creating the textures and the mood of the 
scene.  The candle flame could be improved, as it's 
colour is too uniform.  Perhaps using media for the flame 
would help.
