JPGFILE: cgdchckn.jpg RENDERER USED: Lightwave TOOLS USED: Knot Plot & Lightwave RENDER TIME: 12 hours HARDWARE USED: Powerbook G4 IMAGE DESCRIPTION: Caged chicken? Well you may not see it but that is one interpretation. Depending on your gestalt, you may see something totally different. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: The cage object was created with KnotPlot (freeware). The Knot was then imported into Lightwave - I took one knot and cloned and resized it multiple times then mirrored it. The interior object (yea the chicken) was a number of primitives that were distorted in bizarre ways that gives it a strange feather-like look (well at least that is what I see). The stalagmite looking structures (top and bottom) was a simple plane that was subdivided then painstakingly beveled (magic bevel) each structure to give it unique natural look (then replicated the plane and welded the result (had to totally redo it because the first time I missed the seams and they showed up on the render). There is an area light in the middle and two spot lights to either side, then three lights in behind the scene (sun, glow and fog). The textures were a series of gradients with procedural bump maps (with fresnel affect). The textures and lights seemed to take forever to tweak.
