TITLE: Falling of times NAME: Stefano Tessarin COUNTRY: Italy EMAIL: s.tessarin@tin.it WEBPAGE: N/A TOPIC: Surrealim COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. JPGFILE: clock.jpg RENDERER USED: povray 3.5 and MegaPov 1.0 TOOLS USED: PSP (adding signature and resizing of image) RENDER TIME: 5h 9' 11" HARDWARE USED: P3 700 256Mb RAM IMAGE DESCRIPTION: This is my first entry for the competition, so don't be too nasty with me :-)) The idea is: time is always flowing on, so everything, even the majesty of ancient Rome, will fall down. The flowing of times is represented by the winding cloth as well as by the falling pendulum clock (I don't know how to say it in english, any help?), and the inevitable falling by the ruins. The image is a collage of themes from my favorites Surrealist Painters. The main topic of the image is a painting within a painting: a common subject used by Magritte: the viewer of the image cannot understand if he is looking at a wall, a painting or whatever. The idea of object raining from the sky belongs to Magritte as well. Both ancient time ruins and chess base coming from Salvador Dal_ and De Chirico. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: Everything is CSG and lathe, nothing special. The cloth is a mesh I made in MegaPov using simcloth simulation: the "msh" file is then used to create the object in Official PovRay. All the architect objects (building, temple, columns, etc.) are coming from an architectural include file I'm writing. I plan to share it when I will finish it.
