I liked this picture much more before I read your text file. 
I did not associate the bullets with the one's shape. I 
instead imagined the surrealism of the single digit in a 
massive combination of digits having more than one 
state (shape) of reality itself. Maybe this is related to 
what you were trying to do, but the bullet dodging is less 
interesting to me.

The word MATRIX springs to mind. The matrix is certainly surreal - but it's just
my opinion that this idea is slightly boring. Sorry that I've said that - I
like the number 1 as much as anyone, but there are so many other surreal things
to choose from - even if you were going to do the matrix.
