I hope you resolve the computer problems, this looks like a good start to a good
image.  (And please post the final to the newsgroups!)  The Terragen background
looks a bit ambient, I usually find in Terragen I have to lower the shadow
lightness setting quite a bit to get rid of that.

picture despite the visible triangles and simple texturing 
of the model. The background looks added in.
