DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: I used Rhino 3D to create the Nautilus, the sunken ship, the cannon and the fish. World Builder was used to create the height field for the rocky sea floor. POVRAY was used for everything else. I have not included any of the geometry files used to make this scene do to their size ( over 150 megabytes total). I spent two weeks creating the geometry, wasted one week to trying to figure out how to use photons to create caustics ( I never did get it to work correctly) and a week putting the scene together. The school of fish wwere first created and placed in 3D space in Rhino. I then created a text file of each fish's center point. I swapped the y- and z-coordinates of each point in Excel to match the POVRAY coordinate system and then used the result to locate all of the fish. If I had more time, I would have created a loop to read the coordinates from the text file and populated the school automatically. I had plans to do the same for all of the rivets on the Nautilus's hull. There are over 7,000 rivets on the Nautilus in this picture, about half of the total needed for the whole sub.
