What a beautiful image. Artistically stunning. This could be argued, but
comparetively I don't find the image very technically challenging as Terragen
did most of the work. What would have helped the rendering greatly is
something to give it scale. I know there is not much on Mars to work with...
perhaps pathfinder or some sort of future earth relic?

The big let-down is the letterboxing. If you want to change the aspect ratio,
just change it, don't display big black bands on my screen. The landscape (or
what I can see of it through the dust) is good but the sky is a bit Earth-like
for my taste. Despite this, this is an interesting and worthwhile image.

Good idea, and the frost adds a nice touch. The sunlight filtering through the
haze obstructs the view a little too much, though.

Maybe something to put the mountains in perspective, like a space rover.

A wonderful image, even though it is not obvious that this is a Martian
landscape. I love the interpretation of the topic.

Very nice work, but it fails to convey the desired effect.
It doesn't look like a canyon.

Excellent ground texture.

Beautiful scenic pic. Not quite sure how it fits the category of epic
proportions though.
Notable for lighting

I'd rate this one the winner. Maybe I'm just too easily swayed by atmospheric
effects, but I find the overall experience of this image very convincing. The
composition is attractive, the colours are subtle, and the textures are
detailed and convincingly scaled without being intrusive. Real photographs of
other planets always leave me wondering about scale (no roads, houses, trees
etc as reference points) so this image could easily have suffered from the same
problem. However, the author/artist has used atmospheric effects so skillfully
that we are convinced that this is truly a scene of epic proportions, not just
a close-up of a few pebbles. This work of art is stunningly beautiful.
Notable for originality, lighting, textures, modelling, composition

Too empty. Add some living things, like flying birds, would be better.
Otherwise, a magnificient landscape.
