TITLE: Eagle Canyon NAME: Robert Lee COUNTRY: USA EMAIL: rclee@oklahoma.net WEBPAGE: None TOPIC: Epic Proportions COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD JPGFILE: falls.jpg RENDERER USED: POV 3.5 TOOLS USED: Little Gray Cells RENDER TIME: about 6 hrs HARDWARE USED: 1.4 GHz Pentium on Windows XP IMAGE DESCRIPTION: I wanted to capture the epic scale of the American Southwest and pay tribute to the making of movie epics. The American Southwest has proportions as big as the all outdoors and many epics have been made there. John Houston and John Wayne brought many an epic picture to the silver screen. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: Thanks to Gilles Tran for Makesnow and Makegrass. Thanks to TOM AUST for MakeTree. Thanks to Kurt Bangert for the waterfalls. I used this entry to try my hand at isosurfaces and slope textures. The movie camera and chair are simple CSG. I used a bicubic patch for the chair seat and back with a texture applied via UV mapping. The birds are also simple CSG as well. Don't look at them close up, they look pretty bad. From a distance, the mind fills in the details.
