TITLE: "If the Greenhouse Effect Becomes More Pronounced" NAME: Ralph Roberts COUNTRY: U.S. EMAIL: ralph@abooks.com WEBPAGE: http://ralph.nuoj.com TOPIC: Epic Proportions COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. JPGFILE: greenhou.jpg RENDERER USED: POV-Ray 3.6 TOOLS USED: Pov Ray HARDWARE USED: 1.7 Ghz., Windows 2000 IMAGE DESCRIPTION: By 2150, the Greenhouse Effect had not only become more pronounced, it had taxpayers protesting truly astronomical window washing bills. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: This image was done all inside of POV-Ray. I used the Ring_Sphere from Friedrich A. Lohm_ller's Insert Menu Add-on (if you don't have it, get it... saves tons of time!) as the basis for the greenhouse framework. The glass was made by creating a sphere just slightly smaller than the framework (using one of the handy glass textures that Friedrich's menu gives a link to). The earth is from David Leppik's public domain EarthView. The stars, of course, come from Chris Colefax's galaxy.inc. ... in all, reasonally simple procedures that amplified the power of POV-Ray to give us a somewhat humorous piece of epic proportions.
