The concept isn't bad at all.  What is concerning, however, is the use of Gimp in this image.  The tree was pasted into the image, but how was the shadow done?  This looks like it is probably a violation of the post-processing rule.  Perhaps a little more clarification on the exact use of Gimp is needed here, but it looks as if large elements of the scene are being post-processed.  Nice effort though.  You might want to try playing it a little more safe next time.

A very well balanced image, and I like that leaf as a sort of visual punchline.  The sky seems a little "splotchy" for a lack of a better term, but the fog helps make the landscape deserty.  Good work.

I like the overall effect. The leaf, however, doesn't seem to fit in with the image's light, ambience, etc (it is *too* green) and perhaps too large. The fog/haze is excellent.

I very much liked the juxtaposition of the lone tree in the mist of the mountains, the tree and mountains have a nice feel to them.  I wasn't crazy about the colors, didn't feel quite right, but overall I liked the concept and the execution

Very interesting. The leaf is the wrong shape, to me. A simple, rather than compound, leaf seems apropriate.
