JPGFILE: rm_bath.jpg RENDERER USED: Cinema 4D 8.5 TOOLS USED: Photoshop (for some textures and to add title) RENDER TIME: 08 29 45 HARDWARE USED: PC - AMD Athlon 1.33 GHz - 1 GB RAM IMAGE DESCRIPTION: The topic immediately brought to mind my nine month old daughter and her "toys". Her toys include the traditional infants toys of plastic and cloth, blocks, bears, dolls, tablets full of things she can pull and push, spin and make a lot of noise with. But nine times out of 10, she will pick up an everyday object in preference to anything that might come from the toy store. And when it comes to bath time, even though she has all sorts of wonderful floating animals and plastic bath books, the thing she enjoys most of all is splashing in the water, not content till mum and dad are thoroughly soaked. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: This image was a fantastic learning experience for me. I'd never made a character before, and hadn't really got the hang of sub-division modelling until I started making the toys, fittings and finally the character. I also got to learn a little bit about HDRI lighting and radiosity. I didn't want to use environment maps, so I had to model the whole bathroom, including the shower, windows and door that only appear as reflections. The only environment map is the HDRI map on a sphere outside of the bathroom. This lights the room through the window and through the door. There is one other light which is the bathrooms main light. I have learned a lot making this image, and am glad that I've finally put in an entry IRTC.
