JPGFILE: lb_muse.jpg RENDERER USED: Megapov 1.1 RENDER TIME: 6h15 @ 2240 * 1680 HARDWARE USED: Athlon XP3200+ & 1Go DDR400Mhz running on Linux Mandrake 10.1 Arabeske 2.1.1 (For the mainframe (white) of the orange wall's sun on the right) http://www.wozzeck.net/arabeske/ Wings3D (the blue pot, the orange mushroom and the green sculpture) http://www.wings3d.com/ The Gimp 2.2.1 ( the paintings on the left wall and colorisation of the sun on the right) http://www.gimp.org/ Inkscape 0.4( the two red posters at the entrance of the room) http://www.inkscape.org/ IMAGE DESCRIPTION: I wanted to recreate the lonelyness of a man waiting for his muse (or his wife) in a quiet and silent room of a museum. His position can resemble the "penseur" of Rodin. The room is not really adapted for the rest but the evening sun help's him. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: After a long time of hesitation ( and because I was making other works with pov), I decided to participate in this round, essentially for the challenge to recreate a museum's room, trying play with light (without overexposing objects and avoiding too dark corners ) Then I begun this image late, on 23/12, trying to finish before the 30 ( keeping the 31/12 to render...) I used megapov 1.1 mainly for the velvet effect of the blue carpet. I (re)discovered Wings3D which i had good time and fun with but couldn't aim to the maximum (due a lack of time...) Finaly, I rendered it in high resolution without AA to reduce the render time and the blurry edges that povray 3.6.1 can make with standard AA :-\ For the painting on the right wall, I used Arabeske which allowed me to quickly create an interesting geometrical pattern and to color it with Gimp. The two paintings on left have been made quickly because I was very late. (if you look at the shapes, you'll see my initials (LB)... that's no megalomany but a lack of imagination. For me, the main thing in this scene is the character who can make think of the "Penseur" of Rodin, which is a wink, a little bit misordered between the modernity of the inside of the room... It's the only one element which I didn't created myself in this scene, i owe it to Sylvain Leseur (Husky3D) who had the patience to model it according to my needs. I finally thank all my cyberpals who helped me during the (fast) realisation of this picture. Thanks to all my cyber-friends for cheers, suggestions and translation of this text ;-)
