TITLE: MMOCA - the Metropolitan Museum of Contemporary Art NAME: Mark K. Akita COUNTRY: US EMAIL: mkakita@juno.com TOPIC: Museum COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. JPGFILE: mmoca.jpg RENDERER USED: POV-Ray for Windows 3.6 TOOLS USED: POV-Ray for Windows, Anim8or, PoseRay, Project Dogwaffle RENDER TIME: 5m 13s HARDWARE USED: Mobile Athlon 1.2 ghz PC IMAGE DESCRIPTION: An interior view of one small corner of the totally fictitous Metropolitan Museum of Contemporary Art. I based the MMOCA on a recent visit to the San Francisco MOMA and on the exhibits in the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena, CA. I originally tried doing an interpretation of the "Museum" theme as a view from the inside of the Museum of Unnatural History, with various fossilized and preserved invertebrate creatures. I made some visully interesting models, but the whole picture seemed more like a science lab than a museum exhibit, so I restarted with modern art in mind. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: The models were created using Anim8or, exported to 3DS format, and converted to POV using PoseRay. The painted textures were created using Project Dogwaffle. I did some tweaking of the materials and added some appopriate lighting in the POV editor.
