TITLE: Again(st) Minimalism NAME: Thomas de Groot COUNTRY: Netherlands EMAIL: t.degroot@inter.nl.net WEBPAGE: none TOPIC: Minimalism COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. JPGFILE: against.jpg ZIPFILE: against.zip RENDERER USED: POV-Ray 3.6 TOOLS USED: Silo, Moray, POV-Ray RENDER TIME: 5 hours 11 minutes HARDWARE USED: Compaq Presario 7000T - Pentium III 1GHz IMAGE DESCRIPTION: A painting on the wall. Again Minimalism, because it represents the second minimalism movement, initiated by POV-Ray. It suggests its origins ("less is more" or, if you prefer "- = +"; and an echo of the last suprematist painting of Malevitch "white cross on a white background"). Then it is against minimalism, because it already wants to go beyond the concept. The white of the cross is broken and red paint is splotched on the surface, heralding new concepts. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: The object was made in Silo and exported as mesh2 to POV-Ray. The name tag in the lower left corner was made in Moray and then included separately in the scene file. It was my first occasion to experiment with photons. 4/5 of the render time was taken up by the photons.
