IMAGE DESCRIPTION: 

A black and white image of a whole comprised of 2 parts created with the theme
of minimalism in mind.  There are only 2 objects, 2 lights and 2 patterns used.
 The yin/yang symbol is made of glass with many shadows, reflections, and
caustics to demonstrate that something minimal may also contain depth and
complexity.

DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: 

The yin/yang is a flattened sphere, that was modified and then re-merged using
CSG commands.  The background surface is an infinite plane object with a simple
bump pattern applied.  The lights are placed at about a 45 degree angle above
the plane to make well-defined, stark shadows with a lot of contrast.  The
camera is placed directly over the center of the yin/yang  object.  The picture
makes use of photons to add both realism and an artistic element.
