JPGFILE: spheres_.jpg ZIPFILE: spheres_.zip RENDERER USED: Pov-Ray 3.6.1 TOOLS USED: RENDER TIME: aproxx 8-10 hours HARDWARE USED: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.40 GHz 1.00 GB of RAM IMAGE DESCRIPTION: I wanted this scene to ultimately emphasize the differences that may exist between two worlds, fantasy or real. It's a sphere, a box, a sphere made of boxes, a box made of spheres, a sphere made of boxes made of spheres, a box made of spheres of boxes, a smokey box and sphere, their solid counterparts, and some text thrown in for spice. The text reads clockwise: "Fantasy? Reality? or both?" Heckuva lot of objects, though. 99,193 total objects to be exact. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: I began with the concept of spheres and boxes as opposites, and worked my way up from there. The complex shapes are made from while loops and previously made objects, and the lightbulbs are made by me out of spheres, cylinders, and boxes. To include the theme of opposites even more than just spheres and squares, i "reflected" the objects over a mirror-like hole in a box, and made the opposite side grayscale. i also used media contained by a sphere and box, and a solid box and sphere as its opposite. I then put the text on the wall and in the scene (csg for the text on the wall), then finally put the media under the black and white spotlights. I used POV-Ray to create the entire scene.
