TITLE: What a moment NAME: Enrique Sahagun Alonso COUNTRY: Spain EMAIL: enrique.sahagun@uam.es WEBPAGE: www.robertoullan.tk TOPIC: Speed COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. JPGFILE: what4.jpg RENDERER USED: PovRay 3.6 TOOLS USED: Moray 3.3, Corel Draw and Gimp (for brightness/contrast correction), Wings RENDER TIME: 6 minutes for parsing and 24h for rendering HARDWARE USED: Pentium III 1.1GHz 256M RAM IMAGE DESCRIPTION: It is never a good moment to dye. But it is worse if you dye for something as stupid as a car accident, because you wanted to arrive sonner for instance to your holidays resting place. In Spain every year a lot of people dye or go paralytic because of driving too fast, too drunk or both. Speed is dangerous unless you control the situation. Can you afford it? I wanted this image to be the mixture of something beautiful (as nature is) and something horrible (as death actually is). That is why I have tried to put the car accident in a very beautiful scene. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: This image is not very complex. What actually is complex is each one of the objects that appear in it (-P. - SKY: I have found that to make a good sky it is necessary to link the colour of the sky with the intensity and color of light. Piqueres, the master, has a program that makes it automatically. I don't use it but somehow (by chance) I think I have reached a good result. For the clouds I have used a simple trick. I have always done clouds as a texture in a sphere inside a bigger sphere (the sky sphere). But the curvature of the whole clouds structure was not reallistic. So this time I put the clouds in a cylinder. That and a slight gradient in size for clouds and that is all. - CAR, MIRROR, ALL PARTS OF THE WHEELS, THE WALL, THE ROAD SIGN, THE TEDDY BEAR, BIRDS AND GRASS: They all have been made with wings and Moray. - CEREAL PLANTS: Have been modelled with Moray and cereals plants and grass have been repeated with the standard algorithm of povray (DO WHILE and RAND). - TREES: I wanted to try PovTree for this image, but I had no time so they have been made with MakeTree. They are quite good if you use enough vertex. Textures have been modified by me.
