JPGFILE: moslush.jpg ZIPFILE: moslush.zip RENDERER USED: POV-Ray 3.6 for Windows TOOLS USED: No other tools. RENDER TIME: 2 hours + 4 minutes HARDWARE USED: Single-core AMD Athlon64 3500+, 1GB RAM, Windows XP (32-bit version!)> IMAGE DESCRIPTION: Just before Christmas, I saw a candle in a shop. The candle looked EXACTLY like it was made of snow. Upon closer inspection, it was actually lumpy wax with glitter sprinkled on it. This image was supposed to be of that same candle, on a marble stand, in an ice-encrusted wooden box. As it turns out, the "slush" candle looked much more interesting than the snow candle. (Imagine that the candle is transparent wax that's supposed to look like ice or slush.) The ice crystals on the wooden box look pathetic, and the flame on the candle is dubious, but hey - this is my very first IRTC submission! (And, presumably, my last...) DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: Created using nothing other than POV-Ray. Originally I used all my own textures. But they looked rubbish. In the end, I cheated and used built-in procedural textures instead. (The candle texture is actually something that Gail Shaw gave me, and I subsequently modified based on various people's suggestions.)
