===== From joheriks@abo.fi: A good concept, well executed. But the well seems a bit malplaced (wouldn't want to dig through those roots). ===== From rich@brickbots.com: A very nice image. The setting is serene, and gives good opportunity to explore the topic. I think it could have benefited overall from a bit more work on the composition. The tree branch in the foreground occupying the entire top of the screen is a nice touch, but perhaps it should frame one side and part of the top of the picture rather than the entire top. The combination of the branch, and the thick grass take up a lot of the image plane and leave the rest of the space enclosed and a bit clostrophobic. I would have moved the branch over, and opened up one side of the image to place the unicorn or well in a clearing with some sky visible futher up, again mainly to de-horizontilize (is that even a word?) the image. Adding some interesting negative (bright) space to contrast with the dense trees. A bit more interesting well might have been nice. Perhaps a covered well? Some variation on the grass height/patchiness would have added some great texture to what is a fairly large and homogeneous portion of the image. Not sure how sophisticated the grass macro you used is, but things like longer grass around the trees (where there would be less foot traffic) or a path through the grass would be a really nice touch. ===== From hildurka@simnet.is: A wonderful fairy tale image. The light is excellent and the overall composition is good. Great work! ===== From dungbeatle@mail.tds.net: Nice image. Same trees look too obvious. Grass looks too even. ===== From simon_smith@zen.co.uk: Um, are unicorns really only three inches tall, or is does that grass /really/ need cutting? :-) Seriously, other than that slight error of scale, there's very little wrong with this scene. Does still look a little plasticy, though. Like yet another screen shot from a computer game. ===== From file: cool composition; I like how the tree hangs right above the field of view. nice work on the unicorn, although with my bias towards realism I would have been just as happy with a horse (unless it's located in Delaware, of course). Cool streaking effect of the light coming through the trees and the fog.
