JPGFILE: pickitup.jpg ZIPFILE: pickitup.zip RENDERER USED: MegaPOV 1.2.1/POV-Ray 3.6 TOOLS USED: N/A RENDER TIME: 3 hours 1 minutes 23 seconds (10883 seconds) HARDWARE USED: HP Compaq dc7100, Pentium-4 3.2GHz, 1GB RAM IMAGE DESCRIPTION: Garbage can really ruin a nice scene. So I designed a very simple scene of classic architecture and focussed the camera on a discarded coke can. The picture is intended to be basically black and white, except for the bright red can, which makes it stick out even more. Its a very simple picture but I hope it give the viewer an urge to pick it up. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: The flooring, pillars and the can were all rendered directly in POV-Ray and then just duplicated to create the depth of the scene. I used MegaPOV as it has more advanced image mapping and radiosity functions than the standard POV-Ray. Large image maps of flat-rock were used for texturing of the columns and bricks. All normals are procedural. Radiosity was used to brighten the overal picture while still maintaining shadows. Focal blur was used to create a sense of realism while bringing attention to the can, which is the only object in focus.
